Tormek Sharpening

from $9.99

Tormek is a low-speed water-cooled sharpener since 1973, Your knife will be sharpened with a diamond stone providing a consistent edge, unlike the standard stone the diamond stone remains at a consistent diameter.

Why not just use a belt grinder for sharpening? belt grinders provide a quicker sharpening at a higher speed, this can cause the edge to be overheated and reduce the performance of the edge. The belt grinder may also produce a convex bevel, a convex edge can still be obtained with the Tormek

What about a clamped fixed angle sharpener? The Tormek has the option for using a guide. when sharpening the blades, I found that as much as they work as a consumer product. I personally prefer to have the sharpening surface move over moving sharpening stones back and forth. Due to this preference I decided to make the investment in the Tormek T8. They are not inexpensive at a little over $1,500 an initial charge of $10 is a small price to pay. The machine isn’t automatic, so you are getting a personal touch for your knife/knives.

What is the difference between the base sharpening and the specified angle? The base edge will follow the angle set by the factory while the specified angle would be a reprofiled angle.
